Learning and Resources

What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

1

Children learn and develop best through play and everyday routines. Pediatric occupational therapy uses these meaningful activities to help children build skills such as coordination, self-regulation, motor planning, and independence, so they can participate more successfully in daily life.

What is Sensory Integration?

2

Sensory integration is how the brain takes in and organizes information from the senses including touch, movement, sound, sight, smell, and body awareness so a child can respond to their environment in a way that feels organized and meaningful. This supports regulation, motor planning (praxis), body control, learning, and participation in everyday activities.

Who may benefit from Pediatric OT?

3

Occupational therapy helps children build on their strengths and develop skills for:

  • Sensory integration (how the brain organizes information from movement, touch, sound, sight, and body awareness)

  • Regulation and attention

  • Transitions and daily routines

  • Self-care and independence

  • Fine motor and visual-motor skills

  • Motor planning, gross motor coordination, balance, and body awareness

  • Play, social participation, and relationships

  • Participation in meaningful activities at home, school, and in the community

Payment & Reimbursement Guidance

4

Bright Wings Pediatrics provides a superbill (for private pay services) upon request for occupational therapy services. A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the information needed to submit a claim for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service. Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds are accepted. Coverage and reimbursement are determined by your insurance plan.
